Our college and department envision transforming lives. The K-12 EAP program specifically aims to: (a) develop leaders for Texas and national public, charter, and private schools, and (b) equip individuals for research and teaching roles in higher education institutions. In response to these significant shifts, our K12 EAP faculty commits to recruiting, guiding, and training exceptionally talented, culturally conscious future leaders for superintendent, principal, and professor positions. Achieving these objectives requires cultivating change-makers in education who can enhance teaching methodologies while advocating for equitable opportunities across all educational levels. The program must successfully bridge theory and research to address real-world administrative challenges. We maintain that both school administrators and academics should master reflective practices, blending scholarly knowledge with hands-on experience—merging theoretical understanding with practical expertise.
Candidates are selected for membership in a cohort based on their (a) holding a bachelor’s degree, (b) holding a teaching certificate in PK-12, (c) having at least two years of full-time teaching experience upon entering or upon completing the program, (d) engaging in an interview with faculty, and (e) having involvement in leadership activities. Candidates typically maintain their current employment while pursuing this degree.
