The Clinical Psychology program combines elements of both the clinical-scientist and scientist-practitioner approaches, merging research, teaching, and practical application in doctoral training. We emphasize the interconnected nature of research and clinical skills rather than treating them as separate disciplines. Graduates leave equipped for careers as clinical scientists in academic or research environments, or as scientist-practitioners in medical institutions, training facilities, or leadership positions within service organizations.
This five-year program includes a final-year clinical internship. The initial two years feature a rigorous course load, covering research methods, psychological science fundamentals, and core clinical subjects like psychopathology, assessment, and therapeutic interventions.
From their first year, students join faculty research teams, gaining hands-on experience in developing research questions, designing studies, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation, and conference presentations. Students propose their master's thesis by year's end and complete it in their second year. The program encourages ongoing research collaboration beyond thesis work, building methodological expertise before students begin dissertation research in their third year. We anticipate students will have multiple publications and conference presentations before applying for pre-doctoral internships.
