The Architecture Ph.D. program at Texas A&M University equips students with essential skills and resources to push the discipline forward in academic, professional, cultural, and commercial contexts. Through this program, you'll conceive, refine, and share groundbreaking insights that contribute to architectural scholarship and related fields.
You'll engage in both independent and team-based research under the mentorship of graduate faculty, who will offer their academic and professional insights as you pioneer new knowledge.
Launched in the 1960s with an emphasis on technical studies, our architecture doctoral program now enables students to enhance established scholarship while exploring diverse contemporary topics.
This program will teach you to-
Recognize pivotal challenges and emerging possibilities within architectural practice and theory
Employ advanced qualitative and quantitative research methods with scholarly precision and scientific integrity
Produce innovative, enduring contributions to architectural history, theory, criticism, and applied practice
Disseminate your research through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, monographs, and public engagements
Admission to our Ph.D. in Architecture program is offered to students with a master’s degree in architecture or a related field.
English proficiency can also be demonstrated by:
Minimum TOEFL i-BT score of 80 (in person or Home Edition) from a test date within two years (Texas A&M University does not accept the MyBest TOEFL score), or
Minimum TOEFL Essentials score of 8.5, or
Minimum IELTS Academic test score of 6.0 overall band (Texas A&M University does not accept the IELTS General test), or
GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (subject to departmental approval), or
GMAT Verbal Score of at least 22 (subject to departmental approval), or
Acquiring alternative verification during the admission process from the Graduate and Professional School via a departmental request.
