Building Information Modeling represents one of the most significant technological advancements in modern professional practice, with the School being home to globally recognized experts in this domain. The Digital Building Lab (DBL) stands among the foremost international centers for examining how Building Information Modeling (BIM) transforms technical approaches and professional workflows. The DBL unites students, architecture firms, tech innovators, and industry groups to establish technical benchmarks, redesign construction methodologies, and assess the economic and regulatory consequences of adopting new information modeling and management frameworks.
With decades of experience in architecture, engineering, and computing (AEC) data integration and transfer systems, the program serves as a foundation for creating cutting-edge, internet-enabled solutions for industry-wide data sharing and compatibility. This research initiative merges the program's established excellence in developing building component representation methods with investigations into web-based systems, data standards, and workflow designs that can enable future AEC industry practices.
