The Marine Sciences (MARS) bachelor's program emphasizes the geological, chemical, and physical study of marine, coastal, and estuarine systems. Situated near the coast, our campus provides students with abundant fieldwork opportunities alongside challenging coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, geology, oceanography, and mathematics. MARS students complete four oceanography courses with labs plus GIS training. Seniors engage in faculty-led research projects, producing a thesis and presenting their findings. Elective options span geosciences, chemical/biogeochemical oceanography, physical oceanography, and interdisciplinary studies. Department advisors assist students in tailoring their curriculum to specific interests within marine and coastal environmental science.
