The Mathematics Department provides undergraduate programs leading to three degree options: a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Additionally, students can pursue an integrated bachelor's/graduate degree program.
The BS in Applied Mathematics program incorporates coursework in economics, industrial engineering, statistics, computer science, and advanced mathematics. Graduates gain analytical and quantitative skills applicable to today's technology-driven industries and financial sectors. With proper elective selection, students may also qualify for graduate programs with quantitative focuses. Academic guidance for this degree path is available through the Mathematics Department's Undergraduate Program Office.
Any of the three degree programs can prepare students for teaching certification when paired with appropriate education electives. The BA program often proves most adaptable for aspiring teachers due to its flexible structure for incorporating certification requirements. Mathematics graduates enjoy diverse career prospects, including: mathematical modeling in scientific fields like biology, physics, and economics; computational mathematics applications; high-level business positions; and teaching roles at both secondary and post-secondary levels.
