Psychology majors undergo a comprehensive undergraduate program designed to foster analytical skills, continuous education, and the evaluation and synthesis of knowledge about individuals and communities. The psychology degree curriculum equips students with insights into human behavior and the tools to apply scientific approaches when investigating behavioral questions.
Psychology students can choose between earning a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. While both degrees share identical psychology course requirements, they diverge in their expectations for other academic areas. For instance, the BA mandates foreign language studies and additional humanities credits, while the BS requires more coursework in physical and biological sciences.
Those drawn to human behavior studies with a humanities-focused supplementary curriculum typically opt for the Bachelor of Arts. The BA effectively prepares students for graduate programs and careers emphasizing humanities (such as counseling, social work, management, or law), as well as for roles in business or applied psychology fields.
