The Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages (MODL) fosters and enhances students' global awareness and intercultural skills. Learners can specialize in French, German, or Russian studies. The curriculum provides in-depth exploration of these languages, their literary traditions, social histories, and cultural contexts.
Integrating language proficiency with complementary academic disciplines strengthens career readiness for fields including business, public service, education, and non-profit organizations. The School of Education and Human Development offers teaching certification options for program majors.
Beyond classroom instruction, the department facilitates summer study abroad opportunities for academic credit. Faculty advisors collaborate with students to identify suitable semester or year-long international programs aligned with their academic goals.
Program requirements mandate completion of all introductory and intermediate language courses (100-200 level), either through coursework or placement testing. Credit cannot be awarded for prerequisite courses after completing more advanced language classes.
