The Master of Science in Athletic Training (M.S.A.T.) program holds accreditation from the Commission on Athletic Training Accreditation, equipping graduates to serve as certified athletic trainers leading in clinical practice and education. Launched in Summer 2016, this program emerged following the joint decision by CAATE, the Board of Certification, and the National Athletic Trainers' Association to mandate a master's degree for certification eligibility, reflecting the expanding role of athletic trainers. Current certified professionals may explore Temple's Master of Science in Kinesiology with an Athletic Training focus. As Temple University transitioned from its B.S.A.T. program, it reinforced its three-decade leadership in athletic training education by pioneering this graduate program years before the 2022 mandate. Temple's strategic location, exceptional fieldwork opportunities, alumni connections, innovative medical research, and committed faculty create a distinctive, high-caliber learning environment.
M.S.A.T. graduates develop key competencies including: implementing professional practice standards, mastering athletic training knowledge domains, advocating for improved healthcare results, maintaining ethical and culturally aware practice, advancing the field, communicating effectively across healthcare teams and athletic programs, and employing evidence-based methods to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
