The Master of Arts in Biology program at Temple University's College of Science and Technology focuses on current academic content, enabling students to develop specialized knowledge in modern biological sciences. This graduate program, available both part-time and full-time, is designed for individuals pursuing advanced biological studies without laboratory-based experimental research. Unlike the Biology MS, the MA program concentrates on academic coursework and independent study, allowing students to build expertise in specific biological disciplines like molecular biology and genetics. Through this coursework-intensive approach, students cultivate critical analysis skills essential for biological research and literature evaluation. The interdisciplinary curriculum covers subjects such as cellular, developmental, and molecular biology; molecular neuroscience; ecology and integrative biology; and evolutionary genomics. During their final year, all MA candidates complete a comprehensive literature-based thesis, honing their ability to research, analyze, and interpret scientific publications. Graduates emerge capable of producing thorough, analytical scientific reviews. While classroom learning forms the core of the program, students can utilize resources from the Department of Biology's research centers, including the Center for Biodiversity, the Institute for Contemporary Molecular Science, and the Sbarro Health Research Organization.
