Prepare high school students with the international outlook required to thrive as responsible citizens in today's interconnected world. Pursue a BSEd in Secondary Education: Social Studies Education to guide young minds in understanding our global society and how shifting political and economic forces shape communities worldwide. Through the College of Education and Human Development, you'll gain skills to tackle literacy challenges while maintaining rigorous subject instruction, implement literacy strategies for multilingual learners, design inclusive classrooms for diverse learning needs, and recognize when specialized educational interventions are needed. Alongside your core education classes, you'll select and complete major coursework in one specialization from the College of Liberal Arts: Economics, Geography and Urban Studies, History, Political Science, or Sociology. Your academic journey will include extensive field experiences, culminating in a full-semester student teaching placement where you'll lead classroom instruction at a local high school with guidance from mentor teachers and Temple faculty. While taking Liberal Arts courses, your degree will be conferred by the College of Education and Human Development.
