The Bachelor of Education in Special Education is a statewide initiative preparing graduates for special education licensure in Hawaii's public schools. Students residing on any Hawaiian island can pursue this program remotely during their final two undergraduate years. Participants select from two concentration areas:
Secondary Special Education, Mild/Moderate (6-12) for aspiring middle and high school special education instructors.
Severe Disabilities and Autism (PK-12) for educators focusing on students with intensive needs, typically working in preschools, self-contained classrooms, or community-based learning environments across all grade levels.
