The Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Middle Grades Education equips undergraduate students to teach students from fourth through eighth grade. There's a growing need for qualified middle school educators in Pennsylvania and nationwide. The College of Education and Human Development's Middle Grades Education program not only addresses teacher shortages by producing certified professionals, but also ensures graduates possess extensive knowledge about teaching methodologies while being dedicated to serving diverse pre-teen and adolescent populations. Our curriculum emphasizes developing specialized teaching skills that align with academic requirements and address the varied developmental stages of middle school students. To bridge theory with real-world application, we incorporate frequent, strategically planned field experiences in middle school environments. What makes our program exceptional is its innovative approach to preparing undergraduates for teaching roles across both upper elementary and middle school levels.
