The Communication and Social Influence (CSI) program equips students to become skilled communicators in urban environments characterized by civic participation, risk assessment, and conflict resolution. Students specialize in one of three key concentrations while gaining exposure to all: civic engagement centers on public discourse around social-political issues and grassroots activism; risk communication addresses topics like public health, scientific developments, environmental concerns, and safety; conflict studies examines disputes within communities, institutions, and organizations while developing effective resolution strategies. A unifying thread throughout these specializations is the examination of urban diversity, with particular attention to cross-cultural communication. This major cultivates the next generation of communication experts committed to driving meaningful societal progress.
