This interdisciplinary program delves into contemporary Jewish culture and religious practices. Professors conduct research and teach courses covering Hebrew and Yiddish literature, European and American Jewish writings, Jewish communities in modern Europe and America, artistic expressions, philosophical thought, Israeli studies, and the Palestinian-Israeli situation. Students gain comprehensive, cross-disciplinary understanding of Jewish heritage across different eras, equipping them for future academic or personal engagement with Jewish culture, history, and religion. The Jewish Studies Program provides course guidance, organizes various events (including talks, film screenings, and concerts) for students, faculty, and the public. Graduate students can apply for the Benjamin Fellowship, while all students may enter Holocaust-related essays in the undergraduate and graduate Kalina Prize contest.
