Many contemporary global challenges revolve around energy: how we obtain it, utilize it, and the environmental consequences of our energy technologies. The Integrated Learning Major in Energy and its Impacts provides students with cross-disciplinary knowledge to comprehend the roots of current energy dilemmas and develop solutions. Learners from diverse primary disciplines (including Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, and Management) will collaborate to address some of the planet's most pressing issues. A collaborative capstone project fosters interdisciplinary education while strengthening analytical abilities.

Designed for students pursuing these primary majors: Arts and Sciences students in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Earth Sciences, Physics, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Public Affairs, or International Relations; LCS students in Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering; and Whitman students in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises or Finance. (Engineering students must also complete the LCS Energy Systems Minor.) Students with other majors may participate with program director approval.
