The English Department's Creative Writing Major caters to students deeply passionate about honing their craft in creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. To excel in writing, participants must engage in extensive, analytical reading while exploring modern writing techniques and literature's historical foundations. The curriculum exposes learners to diverse artistic philosophies through both classic and contemporary works, fostering their growth as literary artists. Participants will adopt a writer's mindset, grappling with the creative and ethical decisions inherent to the writing process. With guidance from the renowned faculty of our nationally recognized MFA program, students will enjoy plentiful opportunities for writing, revising, and providing constructive feedback on peers' work.
