This program enhances your skills in creating tailored learning experiences for students with mild, moderate, and significant disabilities by employing customized instructional strategies aligned with each learner's needs. You'll gain essential teamwork and co-teaching skills to assist students with disabilities in mainstream 7-12 grade classrooms.
Your professional growth will expand through specialized coursework and practical experiences focused on supporting students with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental challenges, along with training in evaluation methods, data-driven instruction, behavioral support strategies, and adaptive technologies for diverse learners.
Applicants must possess a current NYS teaching certification in adolescent education or TESOL. Before the internship, candidates need to complete 6 college credits in each core subject area: English, math, social studies, and science.
