Our program holds accreditation from the American Chemical Society and ranks among New York's top three for certified degrees granted. SUNY Oswego chemistry alumni have advanced to esteemed graduate programs and earned national acclaim as chemists, researchers, and educators. State-of-the-art laboratories in the Shineman Center, approachable yet expert faculty, vibrant student groups, and domestic and international internship opportunities create an exceptional chemistry education. The Curriculum and Instruction Department provides Bachelor of Science programs leading to NYS initial teaching certification in various Childhood 1-6 disciplines including The Arts, English, French, German, mathematics, science, social studies, Spanish, and women's studies, as well as Adolescence 7-12 certifications in biology, chemistry, earth sciences, English, French, German, mathematics, physics, social studies, or Spanish, plus TESOL K-12. All programs combine pedagogical coursework with diverse content area studies. Adolescence 7-12 and TESOL K-12 students are advised to explore completing a second major in their concentration field.
Students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction can begin their major as incoming freshmen or transfer students.
