The BFA Studio Art program offers students two specialization paths: Fine Arts or Illustration. Those pursuing Fine Arts must focus on a particular discipline, with options such as Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Art Education, or an Interdisciplinary approach. Art Education students often continue toward a Master of Art Teaching (MAT) degree. Illustration students explore traditional and digital media, 3-D modeling, and electives aligned with their creative goals.
The curriculum emphasizes contemporary art theory, criticism, and history while providing hands-on studio training with professional-grade equipment. Through critiques and coursework, students progress from foundational skills to mastery in their chosen medium. Work-study opportunities, assistantships, and international study programs further enhance practical learning. Alumni frequently gain admission to prestigious MFA programs or build careers as educators, illustrators, animators, gallery professionals, freelance artists, and more.
