The Graphic Design & Photography Department provides a one-year Graphic Design Certificate program. This certification delivers professional training and creative problem-solving education, equipping graduates for careers in Graphic Design. It also serves as a stepping stone for transferring to four-year universities including Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CSU Long Beach, CSU San José, CSU Los Angeles, CalArts, CCA, or OTIS.


The Graphic Design program aims to cultivate creativity, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving abilities while teaching industry-standard tools. Starting with fundamental design principles applied to both digital and traditional media, the program guides students in honing their visual perception and developing distinctive conceptual solutions. Through instruction in digital tools, design theory, innovative thinking, and industry-specific problem-solving methods, students gain a solid foundation for professional entry or further academic pursuits. Training occurs in a cutting-edge Digital Arts Center for practical digital skills development.


Students work on diverse projects utilizing digital tools that combine typography, layout design, illustration, photography, and color theory. The program philosophy centers on graphic designers as visual storytellers capable of crafting innovative solutions for various communication challenges.

Qualification Requirements

High School/University Transcripts
Equivalent of a 2.00 US GPA.
Transcripts for all coursework completed in high school (upper-secondary), English language programs, and university or college. Transcripts should be translated into English by an official translator and/or translating agency.
Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for admission purposes.
Official transcripts are required for athletic eligibility, and may be submitted at a later date.
If you are under 18 years old during your first semester, a copy of your high school diploma is required at least one week before the semester starts.
