Every key element of our natural surroundings - soil, oceans, and atmosphere - has undergone widespread and intricate transformations due to humanity's escalating consumption of resources. These shifts in global and local climate patterns, material circulation, biogeochemical processes, natural disturbance patterns, and species decline negatively impact the essential ecological services that sustain local populations, national economies, and human welfare. Our initiative brings together a diverse team of interdisciplinary researchers to tackle these urgent challenges, aiming to rehabilitate ecological balance and mitigate the harmful cycles between human activities and natural systems. Students in GPES collaborate with specialist faculty members, employing cross-disciplinary methods to develop innovative insights and practical solutions for the complex relationships between civilization and natural ecosystems.
