Graduate programs mirror the growing diversity in the field, providing options to explore numerous disciplines connected to pulp and paper production, along with other sustainable materials, chemicals, and energy solutions. Customized study paths and research projects are tailored to individual goals. A key aspect of both M.S. and Ph.D. curricula involves thesis work guided by a primary advisor. Significant portions of this research occur through the Empire State Paper Research Institute (ESPRI), a world-class facility jointly funded by ESF and the Empire State Paper Research Associates (ESPRA), a global alliance of top industry firms. ESPRI focuses on advancing knowledge in the science, engineering, and technology behind eco-friendly production methods for wood-based products and chemicals.
