Suffolk Law's accelerated JD program caters to ambitious, highly dedicated students eager to tackle year-round coursework to complete their law degree a full year faster than traditional programs. Given the program's rigorous pace, admissions are extremely competitive with limited spots available.
Participants in Suffolk Law's accelerated track can obtain their JD in just 24 months (full-time) or 36 months (part-time evening). While following the same core curriculum and credit requirements as standard JD candidates, accelerated students compress their timeline by attending summer sessions before and after their first year. The program structure breaks down into five specialized areas, with recommended courses for each. Aspiring lawyers—whether targeting firm positions or in-house roles, serving profit or nonprofit organizations—should master essential business foundations: Business Entity Fundamentals, Basic Federal Income Tax, Taxation of Business Entities, and Accounting for Lawyers. Corporate legal professionals encounter diverse business matters, from contract drafting and M&A deal structuring to corporate governance counsel and securities offerings. Relevant coursework includes: Commercial Law (Commercial Paper/Secured Transactions), Corporate Finance, Securities Regulation, Accounting, Negotiation for Lawyers, and Antitrust.
