Our program centers on mastering complex problem-solving. As a mathematics student, you'll gain expertise in numerical manipulation and applying mathematical theories to real-life scenarios. Under faculty mentorship, you'll cultivate abilities to analyze information, detect trends, and employ both logical and innovative thinking to develop unique solutions.
Situated minutes from Boston's Financial District and near Cambridge's leading tech companies, our program offers unparalleled access to top-tier employers for internships and careers. These valuable experiences will expand your professional connections and equip you for success in the workforce or advanced studies.
Mathematics students will:
Employ deductive reasoning to derive conclusions from established principles and apply mathematical frameworks to create solutions, Craft rigorous mathematical proofs to verify findings, Develop proficiency with computational and visualization tools—including Wolfram Mathematica, MATLAB, and Maple—to enhance understanding and analytical capabilities, Study and present on scholarly articles relevant to coursework, Hone abstract reasoning by identifying universal patterns across diverse scenarios, Apply R programming to conduct statistical evaluations of survey data.
Mathematics majors will command fundamental concepts spanning calculus, linear algebra, real analysis, and statistics. You'll build robust computational and theoretical skills while focusing on either pure mathematics or actuarial science. Degree options include a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
Acquire comprehensive knowledge of pure mathematics to prepare for graduate programs, education careers, or professional mathematician roles. You'll develop modeling techniques to address real-world challenges across business, government, and scientific research sectors.
