Our program centers on mastering intricate problem-solving techniques. As a mathematics student, you'll gain expertise in numerical manipulation and applying theoretical concepts to practical situations. Under the guidance of our distinguished professors, you'll cultivate abilities to analyze information, detect trends, and employ both analytical and creative thinking to develop unique solutions for complex challenges.
Situated just minutes from Boston's financial hub and near Cambridge's leading technology firms, our program offers unparalleled access to top-tier companies for internships and career prospects. These valuable experiences will enhance your professional connections and equip you for success in either the workforce or advanced academic pursuits.
Mathematics students will:
Employ deductive reasoning to derive conclusions from established principles and implement mathematical theories to create solutions, Construct rigorous mathematical proofs to verify findings, Gain proficiency with digital computation and visualization tools—including specialized software such as Wolfram Mathematica, MATLAB, and Maple—to deepen understanding and enhance analytical capabilities, Study scholarly articles and deliver presentations on subjects relevant to coursework, Hone abstract reasoning by discerning universal patterns across diverse scenarios, Apply R programming to conduct statistical evaluations of survey data collected from peers.
Pursuing a mathematics degree means acquiring comprehensive knowledge of fundamental areas like calculus, linear algebra, real analysis, and statistical methods. You'll sharpen both computational and conceptual skills while focusing on one of two specialized tracks: theoretical mathematics or actuarial studies. Participants can obtain either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics through this program.
