Mathematics students will:
Employ deductive reasoning to derive conclusions from established principles and apply mathematical concepts to develop solutions, Craft rigorous mathematical proofs to verify findings, Gain proficiency with computational and visualization resources—including specialized software such as Wolfram Mathematica, MATLAB, and Maple—to deepen understanding and enhance analytical capabilities, Study scholarly articles and deliver presentations on subjects relevant to coursework, Hone abstract reasoning abilities by discerning universal patterns across diverse scenarios, Apply the R programming language to conduct statistical evaluations of survey data.
As a mathematics major, you'll achieve comprehensive knowledge of fundamental mathematical areas including calculus, linear algebra, real analysis, and statistics. You'll also refine your computational and conceptual reasoning skills while focusing on one of two specializations: pure mathematics or actuarial science. This program leads to either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
