The disciplines of electrical and computer engineering are experiencing remarkable expansion, driven by emerging technologies and lower expenses that fuel novel applications and rising demands. Within the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department engages in graduate education and cutting-edge research across diverse domains such as communication systems, signal analysis, network technologies, computational engineering, semiconductor components, quantum electronics, integrated circuits, and VLSI design. The department maintains specialized research and instructional facilities focusing on: computational systems, engineering design approaches, high-speed computing and network infrastructure, parallel and neural computing systems, visual recognition technology, fiber optic instrumentation, computer visualization techniques, microelectronics and optoelectronic components, very-large-scale integration, remote robotics, genetic sequencing methods, digital signal analysis, and communication systems.
