The M.A. TESOL Program is a graduate-level professional training initiative that equips students to teach English as a second language. Our program stands out by blending hands-on teaching practice with rigorous academic coursework focused on linguistic structure, language usage, and learning processes. Students can choose between two pathways: a 48-credit option that awards both the M.A. degree and New York State teaching certification (ideal for first-time certification seekers), or a 30-credit option for the M.A. alone (suited for certified teachers pursuing TESOL specialization or those not requiring certification). Graduates of the 30-credit program who hold prior certification may apply directly to New York State for TESOL certification.
