Stony Brook University's Master of Arts in Political Science offers a unique approach, applying psychological perspectives to political analysis. Our intensive courses, led by dedicated faculty, explore how psychology shapes public opinion, attitude shifts, persuasive techniques, and political actions. This graduate program extends the foundation of our globally recognized PhD program in political psychology. Students develop expertise in political psychology, public sentiment analysis, belief systems, and voter engagement strategies. The curriculum exposes learners to theoretical frameworks for interpreting public behavior, immerses them in foundational attitude research, and offers practical training in key opinion research methodologies. M.A. candidates can participate in faculty-led research projects through our two specialized political psychology laboratories. Full-time students can finish the program in one year, while part-time students typically complete it within two years.
