The orthodontics postdoctoral program spans 36 months of full-time study, fulfilling the specialization criteria set by the American Dental Association and preparing candidates for the American Board of Orthodontics certification exam. Prospective students need to hold a D.D.S., D.M.D., or equivalent international degree. Starting annually on July 1, the training primarily occurs at the School of Dental Medicine and its clinical site (the Dental Care Center) within University Hospital, along with affiliated teaching hospitals connected to the dental school and Health Sciences Center, including Long Island Jewish Medical Center's dental department. The curriculum combines lectures, seminars, case discussions, conferences, and hands-on clinical experience.
