Students enrolled in the MS&E master's program who want to leverage their analytical and managerial expertise in public policy can pursue a dual degree, combining their MS&E studies with a Master's in Public Policy (MPP). While the MPP typically spans two years, joint-degree candidates can complete both programs in as little as two years by applying up to 45 quarter units toward both degrees, depending on their academic background and course selections. Upon acceptance into Management Science and Engineering, prospective or current MS students may submit their application materials to the MPP program director for consideration. Typically, joint-degree students focus primarily on MS&E core and specialization courses during their first year, then shift to MPP core classes, concentrations, and practical work in their second year. A total of 90 quarter units are required for this combined program.
