Stanford's computational linguistics program stands among the nation's most established, providing diverse coursework and research possibilities. Our approach encompasses the entire spectrum of computational linguistics, from theoretical explorations to real-world NLP implementations, covering domains such as computational semantics and pragmatics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, syntax and morphology, phonology, psycholinguistics, as well as phonetics and speech. The program also addresses practical applications like machine translation, question answering systems, and sentiment analysis. What binds these varied research endeavors together is our collective aspiration to tackle language's inherent complexity and ambiguity by combining detailed linguistic models with advanced neural and statistical methodologies.
