Applied Linguistics is an expanding and dynamic academic field gaining prominence in universities worldwide. This multidisciplinary area focuses on developing theoretical frameworks and practical approaches for studying and addressing language-related challenges, particularly in education (including first, second, foreign, and heritage language instruction). It also encompasses bilingual education, literacy development, language policy, assessment methods, translation services, dictionary compilation, and writing studies. Graduates with expertise in these specialized areas enhance their career prospects, as many employers specifically seek candidates with applied linguistics or second language acquisition backgrounds. Furthermore, with the growing population of language learners across all educational levels, educators and researchers must possess core knowledge about language acquisition theories and instructional methodologies.
