This curriculum instructs a design methodology that fosters creativity, craftsmanship, and individual expression, focusing on aesthetics while highlighting brainstorming and identifying user needs. The undergraduate Product Design program aims to produce designers capable of integrating technology and aesthetics to address human requirements. It educates students in a design process that promotes innovation, skill, personal style, and prioritizes ideation and need discovery. Coursework equips students with the abilities needed to advance projects from initial ideas to functional prototype realization. Graduating from the Product Design undergraduate program results in awarding a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. The Product Design subplan is recorded on both the transcript and diploma.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required in order to enroll at Stanford.
