Explore and analyze Earth-related questions through research and critical thinking. The Geological Sciences undergraduate program aims to equip students with (1) a comprehensive foundation in Earth science fundamentals and (2) the quantitative, analytical, and communication abilities needed for conducting research and evaluating Earth-related inquiries. This major offers strong preparation for graduate studies and careers in geological/environmental consulting, urban planning, law, education, and other fields where Earth science knowledge and scientific training are valuable.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required in order to enroll at Stanford. Generally, we receive English proficiency exam results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, etc.) from applicants whose native language is not English and/or the primary language of instruction at their secondary school is not English.
