Acquire engineering expertise while delving into various aspects of the energy sector, such as renewable energy sources, oil and gas extraction, geothermal engineering, and beyond. This program offers students the adaptability to investigate the progression of energy, employing an earth sciences-based methodology for understanding energy resources. Develop engineering capabilities while examining the diverse elements of the energy field, including renewable resources, hydrocarbon recovery, geothermal systems, and more. The curriculum provides flexibility for students to explore both renewable and fossil fuel energy systems, grounded in an earth sciences perspective on energy resources. The Energy Resources Engineering major aims to equip students with the engineering abilities and fundamental knowledge necessary to thrive as technical leaders in the energy industry. These competencies encompass resource evaluation, decisions between energy options, and carbon management, along with the core scientific background and technical skills shared by engineers.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required in order to enroll at Stanford. Generally, we receive English proficiency exam results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, etc.) from applicants whose native language is not English and/or the primary language of instruction at their secondary school is not English.
