Qualification Requirements

Required of all applicants:
  • a completed application for admission (students may complete the St. Joseph’s University application or the Common Application)
  • official high school transcript
  • one letter of recommendation from a counselor, teacher or school administrator (letters from other sources may also be considered)
  • a personal statement of at least 250 words (no more than 650 words)
  • a nonrefundable $25 application fee (unless you submit a qualified fee waiver code)

  • St. Joseph's University, New York operates under a test optional admissions policy. Official SAT or ACT scores are not required. Applicants can choose to apply with or without scores and must indicate their intention on their application. If you choose to apply with scores, you may use the following code to have your official scores sent (SAT code: 2802 / ACT code: 2890).
  • Applicants continue to have an additional opportunity to tell us about themselves in the Optional Writing section of the Common Application or the St. Joseph's University Application. Applicants who wish to submit this optional writing supplement will have their response reviewed and considered as part of our holistic admissions review process. Applicants are encouraged to submit this item.
