Graduates of the M.S. in Engineering Entrepreneurship program will become engineers who evaluate emerging technologies through a business lens. They'll gain the skills to translate this understanding into commercializing new technologies. This program addresses the increasing regional and national demand for highly skilled engineering managers and entrepreneurs capable of launching and guiding tech startups.
The Cox School will deliver comprehensive, structured entrepreneurship courses with demonstrated effectiveness. Lyle's OREM department will provide established coursework on management within engineering contexts. A distinctive component of SMU's engineering entrepreneurship master's program will be a pioneering two-semester Technology Commercialization Studio that will:
Concentrate on overseeing high-tech product development,
Support the cultivation of innovative student projects and SMU research lab technologies,
Incorporate guidance from executives at thriving small-to-midsize engineering companies and investment firms, and
Present insights from specialists covering intellectual property, business law, ethics, funding strategies, sales, and other critical areas for engineering entrepreneurs.
