SIUE's clinical child and school psychology program stands among the few nationwide that combine both disciplines. The curriculum focuses on evidence-based methods, preventive strategies, ecological/systemic perspectives, and psychological consultation. Throughout the program, students engage in semester-long practical training.

Upon graduation, professionals are equipped to assist children, teenagers, and their families within healthcare settings and community organizations, working alongside licensed practitioners. The program also provides excellent preparation for those seeking doctoral studies after earning their master's.

This program partially satisfies the educational requirements for Illinois Clinical Professional Counselor licensure.

The school psychology concentration prepares students for advanced study in SIUE's specialist degree program, with admission to the master's program anticipating continued enrollment in the school psychology specialist track for certification purposes.
