The international studies program equips students to examine and participate in the intricate social, political, economic, and cultural connections between nations and regions in our increasingly interconnected world.
Participants in this program will develop critical thinking and analytical abilities to address modern global challenges.
This interdisciplinary major consists of 120 credit hours, encompassing general education, foreign language prerequisites, core classes, study abroad components, and elective options. Those pursuing an international studies degree must choose one of three specialization tracks along with a minor field.
All international studies majors must complete six credits of study abroad, either through a semester-long program or intensive summer session, to gain direct cultural immersion and firsthand understanding of global matters.
While not mandatory, students are strongly advised to consider an internationally-focused internship as an elective opportunity.
The curriculum also offers an independent research option as an elective, enabling students to further explore global topics of interest.
