The Exercise Science (Pre-Professional) program is designed to develop versatile graduates with specialized knowledge in exercise physiology, assessment techniques, and therapeutic exercise planning for careers in academic, athletic, medical, and therapeutic settings.
In their initial two years (freshman and sophomore), students complete foundational coursework across disciplines including English, mathematics, history, along with social, physical, and biological sciences.
The final two years (junior and senior) focus primarily on exercise science subjects such as kinesiology, biomechanics, and exercise physiology. This upper-level study includes extensive laboratory-based instruction covering exercise prescription, equipment usage, and practical training (Practicum I). Students must also fulfill an external supervised internship (Internship II & III), usually at facilities like wellness clinics, athletic training centers, exercise research labs, or cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs beyond Southern Arkansas University's campus.
Students must have official transcripts and marks from your high school or college/university. We require a 2.0 minimum GPA for all the incoming freshmen students.
