By examining writing, rhetoric, theory, and literature, students in our campus-based and online M.A. programs acquire essential skills that serve them well across diverse career paths including education, writing professions, business, publishing, advertising, consulting, marketing, public relations, legal fields, technology, and healthcare. Our curriculum emphasizes writing proficiency, analytical thinking, investigative methods, solution development, organizational skills, and leadership abilities. Simultaneously, students examine how literature—both studied and created—enhances self-awareness, broadens world perspectives, and nurtures compassion for others. Those pursuing an M.A. in English prepare themselves not just for career advancement but for impactful work that builds relationships, strengthens communities, and enriches both personal and collective experiences. Master's candidates collaborate with faculty specialists across numerous disciplines, including British and American literary traditions, children's literature, multicultural writings, feminist literature, creative writing, rhetorical studies, composition, professional communication, literary theory, publishing practices, legal studies, cinema studies, and peace research.

The program typically takes two to three years to complete.
