The Department of Agronomy, Horticulture, and Plant Science is a nationally acclaimed institution for education and research. Our graduate scholars undertake innovative studies while receiving mentorship in research methodologies from seasoned professors. The graduate curriculum encompasses classroom learning, teaching opportunities, and hands-on training in laboratory, greenhouse, and field research methods. Students can specialize in various integrated research areas including arboriculture, crop science, entomology, genomics and genetics, plant biotechnology, plant breeding, plant pathology, precision agriculture, seed technologies, soil science and biogeochemistry, viticulture, water management, and weed science.
Faculty advisors work closely with Ph.D. candidates to customize academic and research plans aligned with their professional aspirations. M.S. graduates gain proficiency in cutting-edge agricultural advancements, experimental design, data analysis, scientific communication, and stakeholder collaboration. Our recent M.S. alumni hold positions as university researchers, USDA-ARS center lecturers, post-doctoral fellows, and agricultural industry scientists.
