Studies demonstrate that high-quality early childhood care and education is vital, with significant demand for skilled educators in this field. This program equips professionals to support children's cognitive, physical, emotional, and social growth in educational environments. Graduates are qualified for roles in Head Start programs, preschools, and childcare centers, while also meeting South Dakota's Birth to age 8 Early Childhood teaching certification standards, allowing them to teach kindergarten through third grade. Participants complete student teaching at the Fishback Center for Early Childhood Education and in elementary classrooms.
