Advancements in animal science lead to better livestock management, enhanced growth, efficiency, health, and performance. Gaining insights into animal nutrition, reproduction, development, and meat science demands a solid scientific foundation, which this specialization offers. The Food Animal Health track fulfills the coursework prerequisites for SDSU's Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine and aligns with requirements at other veterinary schools.
To pursue this specialization, students must complete a minimum of one year at South Dakota State University and gain admission to the accelerated pathway for the SDSU Professional (DVM) Program in Veterinary Medicine. This accelerated option enables students to earn 19 credits toward both their bachelor's degree and the PPVM program.
