The School of Design provides a Professional B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Graphic Design program that combines studio work, lectures, and practical applications. Students in Graphic Design explore visual communication principles across digital platforms, print media, animation, and interactive web/app design. The curriculum covers essential topics including: foundational design skills, creative problem-solving, digital graphics, type design, photographic techniques, drawing, motion graphics, editorial layout, branding systems, user interface design, research methodologies, animated content, professional internships, portfolio development, and a culminating senior project in graphic design. This program builds expertise for professional careers, helping students assemble a competitive design portfolio for employment opportunities in corporate, academic, or nonprofit sectors after graduation.

The degree requires 86 credits in design coursework alongside 33 general education credits, with electives completing the 120-credit graduation requirement. Graphic design students automatically qualify for an art minor through their standard coursework. Additional academic options include pursuing certificates, minors, or complementary studies in related fields such as: design theory, animation techniques, cinema studies, art historical contexts, marketing communications, business ventures, programming, and human behavior studies.

Applicants should have an above average academic record at least equivalent to a B average 2.60 out of 4.00 or be in the top 60 percent of their class with suitable academic preparation for the intended major.
