History provides an essential framework for comprehension - without it, we would be utterly lost. As a history student, you'll examine the full spectrum of human civilization across eras, geographies, and societies. You'll cultivate a profound historical awareness and refine your abilities in investigation, composition, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving. Simultaneously, education courses will prepare you with pedagogical techniques for your teaching career.
The History program forms the foundation of social studies education. By combining it with minors or courses in other fields, students build a comprehensive structure for teaching about human social organization, political systems, economic models, and international relations. Through this interdisciplinary approach, SDState History graduates emerge fully prepared to excel as social studies educators.

Applicants should have an above average academic record at least equivalent to a B average 2.60 out of 4.00 or be in the top 60 percent of their class with suitable academic preparation for the intended major.
The SAT Scholastic Aptitude Test while not required is encouraged and strongly recommended for freshman applicants Students who graduated from US high schools must submit an SAT score.
Academic Transcripts need to be originals or official certified true copies If your transcripts are not in English certified true translations must be attached All upper secondary school-level work needs to be demonstrated through your transcripts It is common for applicants to submit transcripts prior to the completion of their final year of secondary school If you must submit transcripts prior to completion please indicate your expected graduation date.
