Students who complete the necessary coursework units will receive an Early Childhood Education Certificate. All courses counting toward the certificate must be passed with a grade of C or higher. For those intending to work in early childhood environments, ECE 670: Cooperative Education in ECE is highly advised. Fulfilling the certificate criteria prepares students to teach in Title 22-regulated child care programs (non-state-funded) and makes them eligible for an Assistant or Associate Teacher Permit from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This permit is mandatory for assistant and associate teachers in Title 5-regulated programs (state-funded). To earn the ECE Certificate from Skyline College, at least half of the ECE units must be completed at the institution.
