Aspiring early childhood educators must show proficiency in the subject matter required to help students meet the standards set by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. This encompasses expertise across key disciplines: English Language Arts, History and Social Studies, Science, Technology/Engineering, Mathematics, Digital Literacy and Computer Science, Child Development, Special Education, and English Language Learning.
Before entering the Early Childhood Licensure Program, candidates should consult their advisors to strategically choose general education and supplementary courses that build this foundational knowledge. Specialized understanding in special education and English language acquisition is cultivated after acceptance into the major program.
